Top AW14 Trends Warm Up The Womenswear Catwalks

Top AW14 Trends Warm Up The Womenswear  Catwalks

Once again the fashion shows have kicked off for AW14 and as it is our outerwear special this month, we thought it would be good to demonstrate some of the most popular trends that have been emerging on the catwalks for this ever nearer season.

Super Sized Coats: Outerwear is oversized for Autumn with elongated calf-length shapes and pumped up boxier silhouette featuring. Classic trench coats and over coats have a masculine feel while the use of chunky heavy fabrics all add to the look. Fabrics like thick wools and fluffy      textures like shearling together with fur add even more volume to the super sized coats seen.
Red Alert: Ladies in Red has been a standout hue featuring on the catwalks ranging from blood orange to tomato. Matching separates have proven popular and many designers have used   contrasting tones to build their desired looks, while evening wear designers have used high    impact red dresses in a solid bold shade.
Statement Gilets: With the current unpredictable weather we have seen buyers attracted to more transitional garments which work throughout the seasons whether sun or snow. A great way to do this is to layer up items such as sleeveless gilets. These have been luxed up with fluffy shearling, fur and feathers and, on the catwalks have been seen layered up over chunky knits or under lighter outerwear.
Big Textures: Furry and Fuzzy textures have been all over the catwalks of late. Designers have used an array of cosy warm fabrics to give an opulent feel to Winter outerwear. Both real and faux furs were prominent alongside shaggy and shaved shearling, and leather.
Wrap Coats: Although oversized outerwear is still key for AW14, another classic has also emerged in the form of wrap coats. Belted and clinched at the waist with sharp bold shoulders; this style is one of the more sophisticated trends of AW14.
